What is the Subdivision & Development Appeal Board (SDAB)?

Please be advised that the City of Calgary's new Land Use Bylaw 1P2007  (4,380 KB) will become effective on June 01, 2008, replacing the current Land Use Bylaw 2P80. Appeals heard by the Board after June 01 must be decided in accordance with the rules of the new Land Use Bylaw.

The SDAB is a quasi-judicial board established under the Municipal Government Act of the Province of Alberta. It is a tribunal, consisting of two aldermen and eight citizen members appointed annually by City Council. The Board hears appeals with respect to decisions of the Approving Authority and Development Authority and renders decisions based on the evidence presented. Citizen members are appointed for two-year terms and may serve a maximum of three terms.
